Air Hawk Heating and Cooling Presents Check for Paver’s Project to YFA’s RAP House – Giving the Children a Pathway to Hope
“The Paver Project” is raising money to build an addition for YFA’s RAP House Youth Shelter
Air Hawk Heating and Cooling President, Joe Massa presented a check for $2,000.00 to RAP House Director Danielle Husband for sponsoring paver tiles and helping to build an addition to YFA’s Runaway Alternative Project (RAP) House. The “Paver Project” is the result of community leaders, including Jeff DeLigio, Regional Manager of the Verizon Event Center and sponsor of the Home Fest Show and Steve and Tina Farrell of Team Farrell recognizing the need for expanded space at the RAP House to better serve residents and staff.
Air Hawk’s initial donation of $1500 was for the title sponsorship of the 2015 Home Fest at the Verizon Event Center that directly benefited the RAP House Youth Shelter “Paver Project.” Once CEO Massa toured the RAP House and understood the huge need to provide a safe haven for children and teens in our community, he donated an additional $500 bringing his total to $2000.
As a new business owner, CEO Massa was looking for ways to have his business pay back to the community. Through his networking efforts, he learned about the RAP House. “As a father dedicated to my wife and two children, you don’t necessarily have occasion to encounter children that need a safe haven from their circumstances” remarked Massa. “I was totally blown away by the large need for this safe haven right here in our community. I was also upset that the shelter is at capacity and can’t take on more children. I knew I needed to do something to help.”
The concept of the Paver Project was to improve the walkways at the shelter while creating a mechanism for the community to contribute to the building of the recreation room addition by sponsoring a paver tile with a donation. The donation provides for the donor to have their name(s) engraved on the paver tile while also reminding the shelter residents of the community support for their success. Quite a few individuals and businesses in the community have already made donations to the project and Team Farrell has donated hours of work as well.
“The added space will allow us to expand and hopefully not have to turn any children away,” said Ms. Husband, the shelter Director. “The addition will also give greater flexibility to the staff in working with and counseling the children and teens.”
